OTERthe Organization of Teacher Educators in Reading, is a special interest group of the International Reading Association (IRA). The purpose of the organization is to facilitate communication among its membership; provide a forum for debate and discussion of current issues regarding improvement of reading instruction; assist in the development of quality teacher education through recommendations for preservice and inservice program; stimulate research in reading, and disseminate information regarding significant investigations; seek improved competence at all levels of reading instruction; and arrange conferences which will further the objectives of the organization.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear O.T.E.R. Friends,
Greetings from Kansas! Winter is upon us and the semester seems to be flying by so quickly. It appears many of you are trying to set up your travel plans for the spring. I hope they will include the 57th Annual I.R.A. Convention in Chicago and a wonderful O.T.E.R. session, annual business meeting, and social.
Pre-registration for the convention begins on Dec. 2nd on the I.R.A.website, http://www.reading.org/AccessFor/ac-2012/ac-2012_registration.aspx.
Our O.T.E.R. events will include:
O.T.E.R. Board Meeting: TBA (possibly Sunday evening or Monday morning)
O.T.E.R. Session: Program and Business Meeting - Mon, Apr 30, 2012, 3:00–5:45 in the Hyatt McCormick Place, CC20
Social: TBA (directly following OTER Session; more details coming)
